Phones 4U to release Star Trek-themed Nokia 5800

A Star Trek edition of the Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic, set to coincide with the film’s release, will be packed with exclusive content and features

A special version of the popular Nokia 5800 XpressMusic device will be beamed up and given the Star Trek treatment just as the new movie of the popular show hits the big screen.
Adding to the Nokia 5800’s already expansive feature list, the phone will come preloaded with exclusive goodies, including three official Star Trek-themed wallpapers, four screensavers and eight ringtones, such as ‘Kelvin Communicator’ and ‘Red Alert’. There will also be a special Star Trek application thrown into the mix too!
The limited edition handset will come in an array of colours, such as the popular black/silver variant. The phone will be exclusively available at Phones 4U from the start of May.

One compelling scenario for the use of GPS enabled phones is support for navigation. While service based approaches to support such navigation tasks are becoming increasingly available whereby a user downloads (for a fee) a relevant map of her current area onto her GPS enabled phone, the approach is often far from ideal. Typically such maps are highly generalised and may not match the users current activity and needs. Indeed, one will often see such specialised maps on public signs situated where they may be required and it is interesting to consider how one might enable users to walk up to such situated signs and use their mobile phone to take away the map presented in order to use it to assist their on-going navigation activity. With our J2ME application, we show how the user grabs a map shown on a public display by taking a photograph of it and using it as a digital map on her mobile phone (optimized for Nokia N95 S60)

Nokia 5800 XM - v21.0.25 Firmware Walkthrough
In the first of hopefully lots of videos here on nokiAAddict.com, I am running through the changes in the v21.0.25 firmware on the Nokia 5800 XM. First time i’ve recorded a phone in action, so apologises that it’s not perfect.
Anyway - any suggestions how to improve future vids - then please comment!
