Fifteen, a classic sliding puzzle game is now available for symbian 5th edition devices, courtesy- Offscr Technologies, a company which has quiet an impressive lineup of games and applications for the symbian fifth edition platform. Fifteen is a form of n-puzzle which exists in either 3×3 matrix as 8 puzzle or 4×4 matrix as 15 puzzle. The puzzle consists of random arrangement of numbers 1-15 in a 4×4 matrix, with one slot missing. The objective of the puzzle is to rearrange the matrix such that the numerals are arranged in ascending order from left to right. While the gameplay seems simple, it heavily relies on touch interpretation and Offscr Technologies have done a great job in this department. Not only is the game well designed for touch screen play but the aesthetics has also been given its due importance in design of this game.

A dedicated YouTube client has been missing for the symbian platform since long. With Google concentrating more on their Android and iPhone markets for most of its mobile applications. Anyway as they say better late than never, Google has finally released their YouTube client for the symbian platform . While its not as feature packed as I was expecting, it provides basic YouTube features in a fairly well designed client.

number of twitter clients on mobile platforms easily outnumber that of any other networking sites. Following up on my review of Tweets60 v1.22, I was looking for that perfect Twitter client that could not only let me tweet from my 5800 but also let me browse around twitter like from a pc/mac. Thats when I came across this amazing application called Gravity from the benches of mobileways.de, a Germany based company, who have an impressive line up of cool applications for devices based on the symbian platform. After reading the product description of Gravity, I knew I had to try this application, no matter the cost involved. After using Gravity for around 2 days now, I am totally bowled over by its amazing feature set discussed below.

Installation

Gravity is a paid application, costing USD 9.99 and can be bought from the official website of its developers here or from ovi store. There is even a free trial version available for download at the official website of mobileways.de but take my word, you are gonna like this application and hence don’t waste time on the trial but straight away proceed to buying the application, using one of the links listed above. The installation file (.sisx) is around 350 kb and it took me less than 10 s to download this application from the ovi store client on my 5800.

Ovi Store Client Update Available for Nokia 5800

Ovi update

Ovi store may be just a few days over fortnight old but the folks at Ovi thought it was time to update it! Ovi store was officially launched worldwide only on 26th May 2009 and today just 19 days after its launch there is an update available for ovi store client on Nokia 5800. Looks like the tech team at ovi store ihas been working over time first with several complaints over non functional payment and then with several applications and games not showing up in their store. Finally they have come up with an update for the ovi store and lets see how this version fares on our 5800s.

To update your client, all you need to do is just open the ovi client on your 5800s. The client will prompt for an update as indicate in the screenshot to the left. Tapping on update will open the download link in the default symbian browser. The setup file is 651 kb and it took me less that 10s for downloading the setup file. Installation will update the ovi client from v 1.05 (212) to v1.05(231) in a few seconds.

The aesthetics of the new version continues to remain the same as with the earlier version. One thing that stands out in the new version of ovi store is the number of new applications/games available for 5800. I haven’t checked ovi store for the last few days for there were no interesting additions happening but am now very much impressed by the new lineup of applications/ganes available at the store. Is it the fact that I didn’t check on ovi store for a while or is it the case of ovi update including the new set of applications/games is something only the readers of this blog can point out. However I would like to believe that the update added a new line up of games/applications to the store. I came across a bunch of games from the biggest name in gaming industry today, Electronic Arts. Check out the gallery below for some screenshots of the latest version of ovi client on Nokia 5800.
