With 5800s sporting an impressive 3.2″ TFT screen with a resolution of 360 x 640, it can be used as a backup torch. One would have to use a a very bright/plane white wallpaper to be able to use 5800 as a torch but this will drain the battery at an alarming rate and a plain white wallpaper doesn’t do justice to 16 million colours that our 5800 screen is capable of rendering. All these issues can be addressed by relying on an application which can bring torch light like functions to our 5800s. Thanks to MMMOOO (yeah, the same guys who developed MyPhone) for bringing Ever Light to S60 5th edition devices. It has to be noted that Ever Light is considerably different than its nearest competitor Phone Torch by relying on the 3.2″ screen as a light source rather than the LED of camera flash as with Phone Torch. Lets now dwell into the nitty-gritty of Ever Light on 5800s.
Installation
Ever Light is a paid application costing USD 7.99 and can easily be downloaded from MMMOOO webpage here. Installation is a breeze with the customary clicks regarding “untrusted application” and “application wants to access user data”, gosh Nokia needs to fix this nagging isssue which is turning out to be as annoying as Windows Vista’s User Account control, prompting users everytime a new software is installed or an installed software tries to use one of the ports. Lets not talk about that and stick to Ever Light on 5800.
