Nokia 5800 Continues to Rule the Market
The last few weeks have seen many a handset being released from several manufacturers including Nokia; most of them targeting the touch-screen smarthphone segment. While our very own Nokia 5800 has been in this segment for quiet a while now (launched in October 2008), it still continues to be the market leader in this segment outperforming some of its pricier rivals of the competition.
Our friends at My Nokia Blog have reported that Nokia 5800 is the leading pay-monthly phone, going by the statistics of Carphone Warehouse, Europe’s largest independent handset retailer; with more than 1700 stores spread across Europe. What’s fascinating is the fact that Nokia 5800 beats Apple’s iPhone, the darling of masses. (Check the gallery below for the whole list)
Well, critics may argue that Nokia 5800, being priced at entry level smartphone segment, has a definite price advantage over the competition. But its not only the price but it beats its competition in performance too. Steve Litchfield over at All About Symbian weighed Nokia 5800 against some of the best smartphones in market today for speaker performance, and our 5800 outperforms the competition by a distance, scoring a perfect 10, with some of the most hyped smartphones of 2009 like Nokia N97 scoring a paltry 4 on a scale of 10! So fellow 5800 users, we are still among the elite of smartphone users, even after 8 months in competition. True that 5800 lacks in hardware specifications when compared to some of the recent devices, but we have our advantages, be it better speaker performance as highlighted by Steve Litchfield or the attractive pricing, that makes our 5800 the new darling of masses!
